PROJECT BRIEF
I served as Art Director on Shakira’s 2018 International Concert Tour, joining the project through Syndrome Studio to help craft a fully realized visual ecosystem for her global stage experience. Over six months in Los Angeles, I worked hands-on with a team of five to six artists and producers—alongside Creative Director Mars Sandoval—to develop the core concepts, motion sequences, and art direction that would align seamlessly with Shakira’s intricate choreography and iconic performance style.
Our team then traveled to Barcelona to work directly with Shakira and her stage crew, refining the visuals on stage and precisely timing every cue and cinematic beat to her choreography, ensuring each piece fully supported and amplified her live performance.
Across five major display surfaces—including the primary hero screen, dual circular side screens, and the illuminated floor path—we created more than twenty original graphics and motion worlds. Each was designed as its own immersive environment, ranging from ultra-futuristic sequences to culturally rich visual narratives, all unified under Shakira’s brand and artistic identity. Every song a bespoke visual world that surrounded her with rhythmic, expression, creating a cohesive 360-degree experience for the audience.
The tour travelled through dozens of cities worldwide, beginning in Hamburg, Germany and ending in Bogotá, Colombia. It became a major global success, performing to hundreds of thousands of fans across multiple continents. It remains a significant creative milestone—both for Shakira’s celebrated international tour and for my own career in large-scale experiential design.
